Equinix and Carpathia Hosting extend alliance in Hong Kong

Equinix, Inc. and Carpathia Hosting, a provider of complex, compliant managed hosting services for government agencies and enterprises, have announced that Carpathia is now leveraging Equinix’s International Business Exchange™ (IBX) data center in Hong Kong to deliver colocation, managed hosting services and cloud solutions in a secure and compliant environment. This is the first deployment for Carpathia in the Asia Pacific region and is a part of a broader strategic alliance between both organizations.

Date: 6 Jul 2012

The alliance combines Equinix’s global footprint of carrier-neutral data centers and Carpathia’s scalable and secure enterprise-grade complex and compliant managed hosting solutions. Through Platform Equinix™ customers will be able to leverage dynamic ecosystems and networks to expand their business into new markets in a timely and cost effective manner. Carpathia’s solutions can be provisioned and tailored to meet companies’ unique requirements such as Payment Card Industry (PCI) and ensure they are compliant and data is protected and secure.

Equinix and Carpathia have an eight-year track record of successfully meeting compliant hosting and colocation requirements for nearly 200 shared customers. Spotify, a digital music service with more than 10 million registered users and over 1.6 million paying subscribers across the globe, chose Carpathia to quickly deploy in Equinix IBX data centers in the U.S. and easily scale its bandwidth to meet the demands of its growing subscriber base. The combination of services from Equinix and Carpathia provide customers like Spotify with a consistent, global platform for future expansion and rapid deployment model to meet growth.

“The extension of our alliance with Carpathia into Hong Kong is a great example of how both companies are working jointly to help customers quickly generate revenue opportunities in new markets, without having to invest in building out their own infrastructure,” said Eric Hui, director of Cloud, IT, Content and Digital Media, Asia Pacific, Equinix. “Large content and digital providers are growing at a rapid rate and need access to readily available IT services and solutions to meet growing market demand. The service mix from Equinix and Carpathia bring together consistency, scalability, data protection and compliance in a single package, making it easy for companies to efficiently do business in multiple markets.”

“Our customers have some very unique requirements when it comes to transaction throughput, bandwidth and latency,” said Jon Greaves, CTO of Carpathia Hosting. “We work closely with Equinix and our customers to design solutions that meet both the needs of the overall business as well as the financial metrics. Together, we’re bringing to the market a formidable combination of services on Platform Equinix to help customers continue their expansion efforts into other geographies.”
