IT hardware requires significant amounts of power to operate effectively and reliably, the more so in today?s dense footprint data centres. Hence, the sourcing and efficient usage of power is a critical aspect of data centre operation. As a result of the densely-packed rows of hardware racks performing the various IT tasks within an enterprise, a great deal of heat is generated, which needs to be regulated closely to ensure that equipment does not overheat and, subsequently, malfunction.
